Mr. Biryetega is a Member of the Tax Appeals Tribunal, a role he assumed in June 2026. He has over 25 years of experience as a tax practitioner, with extensive expertise across all facets of Tax Administration.

Prior to joining the Tribunal, he worked with the Uganda Revenue Authority, where he was station in-charge Kasese, Bushenyi, Lira and Entebbe. He also served as a Client Relationship Supervisor in the Medium Taxpayers’ Office. Mr. Biryetega’s last posting with the Uganda Revenue Authority was in the Business Policy Division, where he focused primarily on providing tax advisories for the authority. In this capacity, he was heavily engaged in drafting tax legislation, formulating justifications for proposed tax laws, issuing private rulings in tax disputes, and rendering strategic tax advisory services to internal staff, tax consultants, and taxpayers alike.

Mr. Biryetega is a lawyer who also holds Post Graduate Diplomas in Tax Administration and Human Resources. His global perspective on fiscal policy is further enriched by his active engagement in premier international tax workshops and professional symposia hosted across Tokyo, Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, and Mombasa.
