Mr. Solomon Wamai

Deputy Registrar, Tax Appeals Tribunal 

Solomon Wamai is the Deputy Registrar at the Tax Appeals Tribunal of Uganda. He has extensive experience in tax dispute resolution and tax controversy management. He manages technical activities of the tax tribunal. He has participated in formulating amendments to the Tax Appeals Tribunal Act and Tax Appeals Tribunal (Procedures) Rules, setting up regional registries, streamlining registry functions, legal research and setting up Mediation registry at the tribunal. He also presides over hearing of interim applications filed by taxpayers at Kampala registry.

Solomon is an Advocate of High Court of Uganda, a member of Uganda Law Society and East African Law Society. He is a seasoned lawyer, with over a decade of experience in management and operation of tax tribunal.  He possesses a wealth of knowledge in tax dispute resolutions, Oil and Gas, legal research, Advisory and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). He is a trained Mediator, a flexible, hardworking and highly dedicated and loyal.

Solomon holds a Master of Laws Oil and Gas (with a Dissertation) from the University of Aberdeen Scotland, United Kingdom (UK), a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre (LDC), Kampala, Bachelor of Laws from Makerere University Kampala- Uganda, Diploma in Revenue Law and Taxation from the East African School Kampala.
